Board Game Review: Sagrada

Select your window, gather your tools, and roll your dice to build your custom stained glass masterpiece. This dice drafter ramps up in skill level and makes you puzzle your way while competing against your fellow artisans.

Spider: I really liked it. I thought it was a good combination of things. There is definitely luck, but consider you're rolling dice. There has to be luck when the main thing is a giant bag of dice. However, you can stategize a little bit with the use of the tools. You can't mitigate the roll as much as you can with say, Roll Player, but there was a limited ability. I do think that the secret objective card was a little over-powered. So, if you focused on only that you could run away with the score in the lower skill levels. The game plays really fast and it could easily be played back to back. If you see a die you want, you have to plan for it.

Cat: I thought it was super pleasant. I looked forward to playing the game this week. I found myself thinking about the game while I was at work, but not for strategy. I just loved that it was so relaxing. There was no stress at all with the game. I haven't won once, but I've enjoyed playing every time. Like most versus games I just play to beat my own scores. This felt like group solitaire because we all have different windows to build.

Spider: It was beautiful and relaxing, so it was never frustrating even when the luck didn't go your way. It's weird. I don't have a lot to say. It's just a really pleasant experience. I loved the components, I love boards where you can set the pieces inside it. I loved how tactile and rewarding grabbing and placing the dice was.

Cat: I loved the dice. I thought the game was so pleasing to look at and I got such a satisfaction out of filling my board!

Spider: We played with our eight year old (Owl) and he grasped the game just fine. I wasn't sure how he would grasp the tools and goals, but he did it easily. I loved how simple everything was. There were ways to tweak the game, but it was very straight forward. Some of the wording could be interpreted in different ways, but we just agreed and all scored the same ways.

Cat: I thought this was a great game to play with kids. Owl loved figuring out the rules and placement restrictions. We played on the easier difficulty and that made it totally approachable. I definitely think this could be a regular rotation game for the entire family.

Spider: I don't think it's a mainstay gamers game, but it's definitely a regular rotation game for the family because it's quick and streamlined. You could very easily invite non-gamers over and everyone would pick it up super fast. I hesitate to say it's a filler game, but if you're looking for a super laid back, pleasant game this is the one for you.

Spider: I imagine it would be a difficult game for color-blind people because everything is the same shape.
