Board Game Review: Kim-Joy's Magic Bakery

A cooperative baking card game for the crowds (2-5 players) ages 8 and up. This magically themed story watches love unfold through layers of sweet, sweet fun. There are pandas, unicorns, biscuits, pastries, cats, foxes, rainbows, and so much more to enjoy. Will you be able to keep your cool in the hot kitchen while baking up orders and serving your needy customers. Can your jam pack a punch and garnish that sponge cake or will your customers leave disatisfied? The only way to find out is for you to become the next batter up and try your hand at crafting these sweet delights.

Cat: I thought the story was the cutest part of this game. The artwork was adorable, but the stories kept me engaged. I thought overall the game was pretty simple and easy to tackle. We picked it up right away and were able to score three stars in most rounds.

Spider: I also thought the story was awesome. I liked how it was sort of campaign oriented, but you could play the mini games independently.

The characters and the art were really endearing. It just bleeds cuteness. That's what it's all about. It was bright and cheerful and made me want to bake.

I thought it was really well done. The purpose of the game was fulfilled. I think it's a game that any age can appreciate. Our 8 year old, Owl, joined us for a few rounds and quickly got the hang of it. Although, he wanted to be the one to serve the customers. It definitely made for great conversation reasoning out why to choose specific resources and how to share them appropriately.

You don't need to add complexity to make it fun. As the game progressed, the demands increased and it did get a little tense (but in a fun way). The mini game rules made it super fun and the variability within selecting the resources added a lot of replayability.

Cat: The cooperative nature of the game was fun. I really felt like these types of games are really good for #couples. We were forced to work together to make sure that we fulfilled our orders. It didn't really bother me that we couldn't show each other our cards because we were able to talk about them. I think because we were working together we were able to distribute resources as needed and accomplish our #goals. If we couldn't get a resource to make it work, it forced us to communicate more and trouble shoot. If we didn't make the full stars, it was because of oddly distributed resources in the deck, but that's just how the cards lay sometimes.
